Our Founder's Legacy

"Maisha taught us that motherhood shouldn't be a gamble. It should be a guaranteed journey of joy."

Community-Based Maternal Mortality Prevention. A foundational project that redefined how we approach maternal survival.

Maisha project community engagement

The Story

The Maisha Project was TAAF's earliest intervention, focusing on localized safe motherhood advocacy and emergency preparedness in Northern Nigeria.

We worked closely with women and families to improve how pregnancy and childbirth risks are understood and managed at the community level. We didn't just provide information; we built community-led support systems that empowered families to make life-saving decisions in real-time.

Key Lesson Learnt

"Delays in care often begin long before reaching a facility. Access, trust, and timely decision-making are critical."

Today's Impact

Shaped our focus on community-facility linkages and system responsiveness today.

How Maisha evolved into our current Systems Strengthening approach.

What started as a community cry for help became the foundation of TAAF's strategic commitment to safe motherhood and systems accountability.
